Riad Al Jana

You’re right in the middle of the souks, with everything within easy walking distance. The rooftop is a nice place to sit outside in the evening, and the air conditioning worked well. Our room was clean, comfortable, and cozy; breakfast was generous and tasty, and they welcomed us with tea. Mohammed was a lovely, funny host who explained what we needed to know for our time in the city. We had a perfect stay and definitely recommend it.

The riad sits down a small lane in the middle of the Medina, so it has a lovely sense of quiet. Inside, there’s beauty, sophistication, authentic character, and care in all the details. The owner and staff gave us a particularly attentive welcome. Warm thanks to Abdelouahad and Tarek.

The meal we had at the riad was one of the best we've ever eaten, cooked on site and full of the taste of Morocco. The staff also made our stay feel special in all sorts of ways. I was there with my two children as a single Mum, and felt nervous about staying somewhere so different, but everyone was so friendly and helpful. There was a mix-up over the menu's “pancakes”: the children received little sweet pastries instead of the crepes they expected. I said it didn't matter, but the next day, after we got back from an outing, they knocked on our door with chocolate crepes they'd made just for them. They were delicious. I'd absolutely recommend staying here to get a feel for the real Marrakesh. It was very different from a big commercial resort, and so much better.

The riad is in the heart of the Medina, but tucked away enough that we heard no noise at night. The staff made us feel genuinely welcome and helped with our requests without any fuss. We also appreciated the private taxi from the airport. Taxis aren't expensive, but it was reassuring to have someone waiting for us at the terminal exit when we arrived. I'd suggest booking dinner at the riad at least once. The price was good, and the quality above average. You choose what you want in advance, then they buy fresh ingredients and cook just before dinner, which we could really taste. The friendly service made our time in Marrakech all the better.
