Riad Alghani

A lovely, peaceful place with beautiful surroundings.

Latifa really made our week at Riad Alghani. She kept the place spotless, made us delicious breakfasts, did our laundry, and was so warm and thoughtful that we felt right at home. We can't praise her enough. The riad is authentic rather than fancy, and the whole place was ours during our stay. It was good value for a full week and conveniently placed in the Meridian, within walking distance of markets, restaurants, and historic sites. There were four of us visiting from Massachusetts, and we had a wonderful time. A couple of things to keep in mind: the website address points to a private home about a 20 minute walk away, which made arriving confusing. Also, prices quoted by Lamzougui Premium Transport & Lifestyle Concierge for taxis, excursions, and restaurant reservations were much higher than what we found elsewhere. We had a fantastic stay, and we're grateful to Latifa for making it memorable. We'd highly recommend Riad Alghani to anyone visiting Marrakech.

We didn't feel at home here, especially since Latifa spent the whole day at the riad whenever we went out. We even had to buy our own toilet paper because none was supplied. The terrace could have been a lovely spot, but Latifa left her laundry on the benches to dry, so we couldn't really enjoy it. Breakfast was €6 a day, which felt a bit steep when the souk had better, cheaper choices. We didn't get fresh eggs every morning, and looking closer, it seemed the food was all frozen and nothing was made on-site. The riad is in a great location next to the Bahia Palace, and the rooms were clean and well furnished. Next time, though, I'll pick a place without staff.

The only decent part of our whole stay was breakfast. I was traveling with friends and had booked this Riyadh hotel, but the owner kept quoting inflated prices for trips and tours. A regular quad bike outing costs €25, while his offer was €60 per person. It felt like a complete SCAM! We had arranged an airport taxi for 3 a.m. on our return trip from the start. The day before leaving, the owner said it was all sorted. Then he stopped replying on WhatsApp, blocked our number, and no taxi arrived. He was offended that we hadn't booked a quad bike tour with him. THE OWNER DOESN'T TRUST HIS STAFF! A regular taxi in Marrakesh is €10, but theirs costs €40. I don't recommend this place. He's a real slob. Be careful, people like this can seem nice and polite while focusing on ripping you off!
