Riad Anjar

The staff were the part of our Morocco experience I can’t say enough good things about. We felt safe and at home, and the rooms were spacious, comfortable and very clean. Riad Anjar was a beautiful place to stay with my family in Marrakesh. The location was perfect, and we looked forward to the lovely rooftop breakfast each morning.

The staff were all really pleasant, and breakfast was generous. The location was easy to find and made getting around simple. The mosque nearby became a peaceful background sound. Still, if you're a woman traveling alone, the entrance might feel intimidating, and the door wasn't always answered quickly. Our room was dusty and very cold, and the heater barely worked, though the shower had strong pressure and steady hot water. Service would have earned five stars from me if we hadn't needed to haul our own suitcases up the winding stairs.

The Riad is a quiet, comfortable refuge right among the busy souks, with a wonderfully comfortable bed and one of the warmest welcomes you could hope for. The ladies who run it are cheerful and glad to help with anything. If you need a lift, in-room tea and coffee, piped music, a big outdoor pool, or a place to party loudly, this isn't the spot for you, and it's not the cheapest Riad either. Airport transfers are a relaxing option if you're new to Marrakech, though they cost surprisingly much. I gave it five stars for what it does offer.

The staff made this place for us. Everyone was so welcoming and kind, especially Said, who became a lovely new friend. We're really glad we met him and got to spend some time together. The Riad is beautiful and sits on a quiet Medina street, close enough to Jamaa el Fna. The sunset view from the terrace is lovely too. We had an amazing stay and highly recommend it.
