Riad Anyssates

A really nice, friendly Riad. The whole team always had a smile. Breakfast was on the roof each day, and they cleaned the room every day.

Renovation work was going on during our stay, with hours of nonstop hammering that continued even after we asked several times for it to stop. The website also advertises wine and spirits at the bar, but we were told there was no alcohol licence. That false advertising does nothing for the place's credibility. I would not book this Riad under any circumstances. !!!!

The maintenance was poor: some electrical outlets did not work, lights needed replacing, part of the ceiling was coming down, and the plants by the entrance and on the terrace were dead. The upstairs terrace felt abandoned, with nobody around to serve anything. The photos of happy Moroccan people on the website didn't match what I saw. I think only one person pictured was still there; the rest seemed to have left. This didn't feel like a traditional riad at all. A French woman bought the building and renovated it in a Western style, so the result looked fake, almost like a cartoon riad. That might suit a building in Europe, but not here. We saw other places run by French owners, including diar al ksr, that kept the Moroccan atmosphere. The location is at the edge of the old town, around a 20-minute walk from the attractions. Breakfast was poor and basic: supermarket butter and triangle cheese, old bread that was mostly burnt. Fresh orange juice was the one good thing, though it's available everywhere in Marrakesh. We were told the Hamam was out of order during our visit. The parking information was misleading. Their pages on booking .com and Agoda.com said parking was available, but there is no parking in the medina. When I sent the manager a screenshot, he said it was old information and sent a location about a 20-minute walk away. Service was poor too. Because of a system glitch when changing rooms, we accidentally paid for 2 rooms instead of one. I contacted them right away about the mistake, but the manager said the owner was strict about money. We ended up using the extra room as a bathroom and asked the lady to give the two extra breakfasts to the workers. To me, that felt like thift. If you're looking for a riad where you can experience the local culture, this isn't the place. We were misled, including, I think, by fake reviews claiming the location was great.

We came as a big group and had a wonderful time. They even put on a party for us, with beautiful decorations and amazing food, and everyone enjoyed the spa and massage. The Riad was calm and clean, with really friendly staff. All the rooms were spacious, spotless, and had everything we needed. Would happily come back!
