Riad Darhani

Darhani made our time in Morocco feel like we were VIPs. The team even arranged a day in the Atlas Mountains with a private guide who took us away from the usual tourist route to find our own little bit of magic. Omar helped plan my girlfriend’s birthday, suggesting a restaurant, hammam, jewellery shop, and cooking course, then calling to book them for me. When I realised I hadn’t had my shirt ironed before dinner on her birthday, Abdo sorted it out at short notice. After the airline slightly tore my bag on the flight to Morocco, Sadia found a repair shop at local prices. She also makes very tasty breakfasts. The building is beautiful, and Omar, Abdo, Sadia, and everyone else went well beyond what I expected from a riad. Darhani is a special place, and I’d recommend staying here if you want that kind of care.

We stayed in five riads across Morocco, and this one was about what I expected for this price. The floor was sandy, and some furniture or equipment may have been broken but still usable. The rooms met expectations, and the staff were good. It’s about a 10-minute walk from the square. The tour was good quality, but the extra costs for transport and meals were confusing. The official page listed transport at 15 euros, while staff quoted 20. I only noticed the difference too late. Dinner was good, but far too expensive. We had a riad dinner in Meknès for about half the price with better food, so I wouldn’t recommend dinner here. Breakfast was also not as described on the website, which listed fruit, pancakes, eggs, and yogurt every day. Those items never appeared together, and on the last day we got eggs but no fruit or pancakes.

The rooftop deck was a lovely bonus, a quiet little oasis for guests. Our room was spotless and cozy, and the beds were really comfortable. The riad itself was beautiful, with a relaxing atmosphere, and the food was phenomenal. Omar and his staff made us feel like family and showed me a level of hospitality I’ve never experienced before. They’re without a doubt the best resource for getting to know Marrakech and Morocco.

The building has real charm, and there’s a small pool in the center. We had spacious, comfortable bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, plus a pretty roof terrace. Breakfast was perfectly adequate, and the staff were very helpful. The position was good too.
