Riad Elixir

The host was really helpful, including with advice on finding your way around the Medina. He asked what time we wanted breakfast, then had a fresh, traditional home-cooked meal ready at that time each morning. The rooms stayed cool and comfortable in the heat, and this was a wonderful little riad. The one drawback was the nearby mosque. At 5am each day, the prayers vibrated through the whole building and woke us.

Elixir was closed when we arrived around 1am, after our flight cancellation and a mistake by our travel agency sent us there. Nobody was waiting for us, but some neighbors helped by calling the host, Mr. Khalid, who hurried over. I can’t describe how kind he was. He’d taken a few days off to be with his family, but because of the agency’s mistake he stayed with us. We were the only guests, and he kept making sure we had what we needed, even though he hadn’t expected us. He was helpful and kind the whole time. The riad is cute and comfortable, elegant without being pretentious, and the breakfast was divine. I didn’t find the location especially central, though that’s just my personal preference.

Right in the Medina, this Riad is lovely. Khalid is a very kind host who takes care of everything for you. The rooms are spacious, the breakfast is nice, and I’d recommend it to anyone wanting a real experience.

We got in late, and Khalid came out to meet us and help. He was a great host and made sure he stayed reachable throughout my trip whenever I needed to get in touch.
