Riad Tendence In Marrakech

Ali’s warmth and hospitality made the riad feel like home, and my stay left me feeling humble and grateful. Riad Tendance sits in the heart of the Medina, a quiet break from the busy souks while the city’s energy is right outside. The interior is beautifully done and had what I needed for a comfortable stay. Breakfast is simple and local, so don’t expect a huge spread, but it feels authentic. ❤️

We left within minutes of finding three bed bugs under the sheets, and decided to pursue the matter later through our card company. When I returned to the front desk, no one was there. After a 20 minute wait, the same person appeared and said he had to call his manager, then disappeared for another 20 minutes. He eventually offered another room, but it had no private bathroom and would mean sharing with others. I asked repeatedly for a refund and was told I couldn’t get one because I’d paid by card. He said, “Things don’t work the way you want.” When I mentioned the bugs, he got defensive and blamed guests for bringing them. The trouble started before that. On entering Riad Tendance, we smelled mold, open gutters, cigarettes, and hashish. The location was great, so we tried to stay optimistic and check in, but there was nobody at the entrance. We waited about 30 minutes for someone to show up, and his first request was payment. We paid by credit card, but the amount was more than agreed, supposedly because of “taxes and conversions.” Tired from traveling, we accepted it. The smell was even worse in the room. We then looked at online reviews and saw other guests mentioning bad odors, bed bugs, and absent front desk staff. Within 10 minutes, we found three bugs without even searching hard. Avoid this place. It’s not worth the time, money, or frustration.

Breakfast on the terrace was wonderful, and the staff were so friendly and ready to help. The Riad is beautiful and right in the heart of Marrakech, making it a lovely base for taking in the charm of the old city. I’d highly recommend it for an authentic, memorable stay.

We found bedbugs as soon as we pulled back the sheets. We showed the staff, expecting a room change or some refund, but they wouldn’t offer even basic compensation and seemed not to care. The place also looks nothing like the photos, which are very misleading. It felt dark, shady, and unwelcoming, with hardly any proper lighting and a strange bad smell throughout. I don’t see how anyone can sleep well here. Avoid it, it’s not worth the hassle or risk.
