Ryad Marrakech

We booked five nights at a very reasonable price, and I loved our stay. The Kasbah is a lovely part of town, with plenty of nice places to eat nearby and the market within walking distance, so getting around on foot was easy. The service was fabulous, everyone was warm and welcoming. The rooftop views were great, and our room was beautiful and comfortable. We were greeted by lovely scents from the oil burners in the hallway, which made the place feel peaceful as soon as we walked in. The rest of the riad was just as calm, with a small pool in the middle. We were offered mint tea on the terrace before being shown to our room. I couldn't have asked for more.

The location is the one good thing, right in the middle of everything. Otherwise it was a disaster. Hicham was the staff member we dealt with, and he was incredibly disrespectful. We paid in full at the Ryad for excursions, but when we got there, we found out they hadn't been paid for. Don't take the airport shuttle, the fare is overpriced and a local cab is much cheaper. Dinner at the Ryad is also overpriced and not worth it; you can eat better at a local restaurant. There was no privacy in the bathrooms, which basically had no doors. The WiFi hardly ever worked, and the pool was more like a pond.

It's been a week of trying to get an invoice for our stay, and they haven't replied at all. We have no way to contact the hotel or settle the bill. I wouldn't recommend it. This feels like fraud.

The friendly, helpful staff and the clean, pleasant rooms met our expectations completely. It’s a great base for exploring old Marrakesh.
