Riad KASBAH

We were unsure at first because there weren't many reviews, but I'm glad we booked. The location near the top of the Medina was excellent, quieter than farther down and close to the Kasbah Museum, Ibn Battuta Museum, and sea gate, Bab Al Bahr. We also enjoyed walking to the Phoenician tombs, an unexpected highlight of the trip. The staff were lovely and served a huge breakfast every morning on the rooftop terrace. Just remember it's a riad, so it isn't perfectly quiet, and earplugs are a must. Our room was a bit musty and could have had better ventilation, though the air conditioning worked well.

We had a very good time at this little riad while visiting Tangier. It's in an excellent spot, only a short walk from the gate into the medina. The staff were friendly, and we enjoyed having breakfast on the rooftop terrace.

We stayed for two nights. It was okay, but not great. I'd expected more from staying in a riad, and I wouldn't return to this one. The humidity and the shortage of reception staff were the main problems.

The location is excellent, and most of the staff were friendly and tried to help. Even so, I would avoid this place. With such a high rating, I feel the problems with the room and breakfast need mentioning. The room I was given had just a small window facing the reception, even though the description said mountain view. I wasn't told this beforehand and had to keep the room once I arrived. The bathroom had no window or ventilation. I slept with the air conditioning on, but came back in the evening, showered, and found my jackets and the contents of my suitcase soaked the next morning. The split air conditioner was right over the bed because the room was tiny. There was no furniture or space for suitcases, so we put ours on the two armchairs, which seemed to be where everyone put them, and they were dirty. The lighting was very dim, with two of the four bulbs burned out. The decorative pillows and bedspread had to go on the floor, and during cleaning they put the rug on an armchair. In the morning, when arrivals and departures were happening, the woman at reception spoke only Arabic and couldn't give advice or information. For example, she couldn't explain how to use the dehumidifier, whose plug wouldn't fit. Breakfast was plentiful but terrible. The fruit and cheeses were fresh, but everything was left over. The butter had gone bad in its tray, the pancakes looked like a dish sponge and came with a questionable sauce, the packaged jam was runny, and the pudding was awful. I skipped the fresh juice because I didn't want to risk it. Both kinds of bread were inedible. The omelette was edible, but greasy and rubbery. I also don't understand the comments praising the terrace view. Nearby rooftops were covered with old mattresses, trash cans, and air conditioning motors. The Riad's were right beside the breakfast tables. At the very least, ask for confirmation of a room with a window when booking.
