The riad is lovely, with tasteful rooms and a peaceful feel. But despite having a reservation through booking.com, my partner and I were turned away at check-in. We’re not married by choice, and we were told we couldn’t stay together. The review stated that Moroccan law since May 2024 makes it illegal for hotels to ask couples traveling together for a marriage certificate. Finding this out only when we arrived was very inconvenient. Thankfully, we managed to find somewhere else in the end.

The riad is in the middle of the medina, close to many Meknes sights, and we enjoyed our stay very much. The caretaker came to meet us at el hedim square and showed us the way. He served mint tea while checking us in and helped with our questions throughout the visit. Our room had a private bathroom, a heater and AC. Breakfast was included and sufficient. Friendly staff, and we’d recommend it.

The medina can be chaotic, but the riad feels like a peaceful oasis there. It was a bit hard to find, though that seems common in Morocco. The staff are really nice.
