Riad Ritaj

Dear reader, I’ve known this Riad for a long time and have always thought it was magnificent, with beautiful Moorish/Andalusian architecture. When I get the chance, I bring business guests here for coffee or something to eat and to show them the building. Yesterday I brought an off-duty business delegation, but we were refused entry. The restaurant was completely empty, yet we weren’t allowed to sit down for a drink or perhaps a meal. I’m hurt to leave just one star, but the way we were treated was absolutely inappropriate. I urge the management team to reflect on this. You’ve always had my loyalty, and I’ve been loyal to you as well. Kind regards, Ismail

The building and reception were the only good parts for me. The toilet water wasn’t working properly, and I couldn’t shower during my stay. Even though I’d paid for an extra day, I had to leave the riad. Breakfast was small and not prepared. It’s okay to have this level in Morocco, but please don’t claim it’s five stars. Younes and the guide were amazing, as was the woman at reception.

Loved the authentic feel and the great location.

It looks beautiful, but the value just wasn’t there. I’ve travelled for 25 years and haven’t seen hotel staff dry blankets and other room items out on a balcony like that. The staff raised their voices or practically shouted to each other, and seeing someone dust around breakfast without covering the duster, with all that dust, didn’t look hygienic. Service wasn’t much better. Apart from maybe the receptionist, the staff were painfully slow, and watching them clear the breakfast table was hard.
