Erg Chebbi Camel Trek Camp

The setting was lovely, with a cool, inviting pool and stunning desert views. Our accommodation was clean and comfortable, and Maborak was a generous, extremely helpful host. The meals were top quality, and all the tours were fantastic. Our night in a luxury camp after a camel trek was unforgettable. Thank you, highly recommend! ❤️

Lovely view and a great stay. Our kind host took us to a stunning lake and arranged fun activities, including a night camping in the desert and buggy riding. The food was excellent.

The latest problem was receiving several aggressive, unpleasant voice messages from Mobarek after I raised a fair complaint. He said a few months ago that he wouldn't return our money because of negative reviews posted since then, and it was insulting to be blamed for those. In January 2025, he admitted he had overcharged us by 4,000 dirham and asked me to remove my review, but still won't acknowledge the additional amount. He refused to send the money back through Revolut, saying he didn't have it, even though he had offered Revolut as a payment method. 7shuma 3lik Mobarek. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and feels deeply unprofessional. We spent 17 nights at Takojt. The place itself was nice, but we paid €3,000, more than twice the roughly €1,300-€1,500 that the advertised €25 per person per night, including breakfast and dinner, would have come to. After we asked for an itemized bill, the manager promised one but never provided it, despite repeated follow-ups over several weeks. The owner said the rates had gone up because of renovations, but the website still showed the old price and nobody told us beforehand. Even using the €40 per person nightly room rate we later learned about, and adding an assumed €15 per person per day for lunch, the total should have been around €1,700-€1,800. That leaves €1,200-€1,300 unexplained. The extra amount alone was enough for about a month and a half of travel in Morocco on my usual budget. I'd spent ten months there and had only good experiences until this stay. My friend and I trusted the owner despite the unusually high bill, and that trust was misplaced. The lack of openness spoiled what should have been a pleasant visit. Get every cost confirmed in writing beforehand, or choose one of the many other places in Merzouga.

The owner handled this really badly and wouldn't honor the advertised rate. We were charged double when we checked out, even though the listed price when we booked and stayed was 25€. Finding out about the increase only after we'd spent a few nights there felt completely unfair. I'm a budget traveler, and the price was one of the reasons I chose the place, so this was a big disappointment. I wouldn't recommend it.
