Riad Villa Amood

The meals were a real highlight for us. After several days of Moroccan food, Barabara’s Andalusian touches were a lovely change. The Iberian ham carpaccio was the best I’ve had outside Guijuelo, and we enjoyed two bottles of excellent Spanish white wine with lunch. Dinner brought a wonderful Pastilla, an avocado and tomato salad, and beef cooked just how we asked. Breakfast had plenty of traditional breads, pastries, honey, jams, tapenades, fresh exotic juices, and eggs made to order. Villa Amood feels like the La Mamounia of the Sahara Desert. From the almond-colored Riad door, you step into a green, peaceful courtyard with a river-like feel, plus privacy and harmony. The exterior had me fooled at first. The pool is beautifully designed and refreshing, with shady seating spots and comfortable loungers. The towels were luxurious, and there was a Berber sombrero for shade. Check-in was easy, and the welcoming reception treated us to fresh dates and unusual freshly squeezed juices. Our room was lovely and comfortable, with free drinks in the minibar and a choice of a king bed or two separate beds. On the second floor, ours had a small courtyard and views over the pool to the red Merzouga dunes. The shower was great, with strong water pressure. We were sad to leave after just one night. The pool area was tranquil, the place was beautiful, and the friendly service and varied food left us feeling refreshed. Barabara and Mustafa were warm, interesting hosts, and it was fun hearing about their experiences. They and the staff made us feel like family. Thank you! Photos and videos to follow.
