Kasbah La Cigogne

The staff were friendly and very helpful, and the food was tasty. The rooms have a really original style, though a few things could use minor renovation. A distinctive place to stay and relax.

The hosts were so lovely, and the rooftop views were beautiful. There’s even a swing up there. It’s a unique, slightly quirky place that’s great for a night. Dinner and breakfast were decent, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. They could use some work, but nothing major.

We only stayed one night, but had a great time. The castle has all the amenities, and the rooms are very large and clean. The staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast and dinner both came in generous portions, with lots of variety, and tasted very good.

We loved the hotel and its surroundings. The main reason for coming was Aid Ben Haddou, which is nice, but we discovered that the hotel is attached to an abandoned kasbah you can explore. We paid an old man 15 dirhams each to open it, spent about 30 minutes looking around, then a local man offered to show us his garden between the river and the kasbah. It was a beautiful area and a friendly, spontaneous experience. After our very early walk, a lovely breakfast was waiting for us. The building, main hall, and rooms are a gem. We saw two family rooms, both with a separate area for children, and chose one with a bath overlooking the view. The indoor pool is beautiful, with marble tiles containing fossilized prehistoric sea creatures. We had a nice dinner at the hotel since we were the only guests. The pool wasn’t heated, like most pools in Marocco, and at around 19’c it was quite chilly, but we still swam. Sadly, the jacuzzi was closed for maintenance, though it will be heated when it’s running. For us, the hotel and its surroundings made for a 5* experience. Some things could be better, like having a working jacuzzi, and they may improve when tourism picks up after the pandemic. Pictures taken at the hotel & the area.
