Residence Bab El Janoub

I ended up booking here in a bit of a rush after missing my flight. It’s about 5 minutes from ouarzazate airport. The apartment was large, clean, and decorated in a very traditional style, with a great view from the roof terrace. The only real issue was the air conditioning, which struggled on a very hot, humid night.

Iatimad was there from the booking through the welcome at the property and throughout our week-long stay. The apartment was spacious and clean, with the basics we needed, plus air conditioning in the rooms and lounge. It’s near local shops, cafes, and a Carrefour store. Oaurzazate airport is 3km away, a taxi was €5 for three of us, and walking the distance in about 30 minutes seems doable with light luggage if the weather cooperates. It was good value, much more comfortable than a small hotel room at nearly the same price. The apartment could use a little TLC, but it was manageable if you’re not expecting perfection. There’s no elevator, though the stairs were fine for us.

Iatimad made the stay especially pleasant. She was gracious, prompt, courteous, and resourceful, and suggested taking the route to Marrakesh via Ait Ben Haddou and then Telouet. It wasn’t the usual route, and the landscapes made for a marvelous journey. We were passing through from Merzouga toward Marrakesh in a rental car and stayed one night. The area felt very safe, with restaurants nearby. It’s a little outside the city center, but a short walk or drive gets you to the main attractions. Our room was spotless and we slept really well. There were two of us, though the place could easily fit four, making it suitable for a group or larger family, and it has a fully stocked kitchen.

There’s plenty of room here, with two bedrooms, a big kitchen, living room, and patio. The host was welcoming and really nice. Everything was clean, the bed was clean, and there’s air conditioning, a heater for cold weather, and a TV. The window view was average. It’s some distance from the city center, but Ouarzazate is small, and the furthest tourist spots are a 45-minute walk, which is totally fine if you like exploring on foot.
