The apartment itself was lovely, with only a few small things needing attention. But the welcome really took the shine off the end of our trip. Danielle seemed friendly over email, then came across as closed off and unpleasant when we arrived. The apartment where she greeted us smelled of stale tobacco and wasn't very clean, and the promised snack was just a glass of tea. I was astonished by how aggressively she spoke to her "boyfriend" and how little consideration she showed him. I don't want to judge, but I didn't expect that. She also doesn't seem to appreciate local people, despite choosing to settle in Morocco. The neighborhood smells unpleasant, and apparently there are lots of insects there in summer, though I didn't see any myself. It's also a bit far from the city center on foot. A real shame, because the apartment was nice.

We spent five days here and had a wonderful time. Danièle was charming and welcoming, always up for a chat, and knows Ouarzazate and the surrounding area well. The apartment was spacious, quiet, and fantastic, with a big terrace, lovely furniture and table arrangements, and a kitchen that was finally properly equipped. It's outside the city center in a lively neighborhood where kids play with whatever they can find. We felt comfortable and safe, and it was very quiet in the evenings. Nearby, we could get everything we needed: a grocery store, butcher, fishmonger, bakery, fruit and vegetable shops, and cafes with terraces. We visited Ouarzazate and went trekking in the Valley of Roses, around Ait Ben Haddou, in Skoura, at the Kasbah of the Caids in Agdz, and elsewhere. A truly wonderful experience.
