Al Destino Luxury Villa & Spa Marrakech

We were charged another $5,000 for supposed damages, and the owners tried to get a further $20,000 for things we strongly dispute and never agreed to pay. After wine was spilled on the dining room floor, they demanded $6,000 USD, saying the tiles had to be replaced. One of our nannies speaks French and overheard the owner say cleaning would cost around $100. The duvets weren't properly washed either. We were a group of 23 adults, 2 children, and a baby. Much of the furniture was broken or wobbly, and chairs would fall apart when people sat on them. The power and water were also shut off over a broken chair. The owner came to the villa almost every day, which made us uncomfortable. When we brought it up, he said the contract allowed it because he considered himself “staff.” The pool heater was broken when we arrived, and no one had told us before our 12-day stay. When we asked why, the owner laughed and brushed off our concerns. We felt misled, uncomfortable, and taken advantage of. The whole experience seemed dishonest and unprofessional, and we can't recommend the property.

The electricity was shut off every day, and the cleaning crew wouldn't let us get towels or tissues. The owner kept turning up during our stay and was nasty and disrespectful for no reason. We just wanted a peaceful time, but she kept trying to scam us out of more money. Please don't stay at this villa.

The photos made it look good, but we got a horrible, old, smelly villa with a dated, unclean kitchen. We felt scammed, and the stay put us off visiting Morocco again. Stay far away. We booked this “5-star” villa in Morocco last week with friends, and it was the worst experience ever. The beds were slim and uncomfortable, and the towels were unwashed. The owners showed up every day with claims about damage, blaming us for furniture that was already broken or old. Chairs meant for adults collapsed as soon as we used them. Someone accidentally spilled a little wine at one meal, and they said the whole dining room floor needed replacing. Every day there was a new thing they said we'd broken, and every day brought another commotion. We've traveled around the world for years and stayed in villas in lots of places. We've had great stays, but nothing like this.

There were 23 of us, including children, and we felt watched by cameras throughout the stay. It was uncomfortable, and overall we felt unsafe and disrespected. I wouldn't recommend this place. The owners were rude and intrusive. They entered the property several times without permission and kept disturbing us. They demanded extra money for furniture that was already broken and for other things that had nothing to do with us. At one point they shut off the electricity and water. A very bad experience.
