Palace Africa

Palace Africa was such a peaceful place to stay, a nice change from the Medina's mania. The rooms were clean and beautifully decorated, and the staff were all friendly and there whenever I needed them. I had a lovely time and hope to return soon.

The pool and facilities gave us a lovely place to unwind after exploring Marrakesh, and the breakfast buffet was a real highlight, with lots of fresh, flavorful choices. The food overall was delicious. Our room was spacious, gorgeous, beautifully designed, and very comfortable, with everything feeling well thought out. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout, always making sure we had what we needed. We had a wonderful stay from beginning to end and would happily return.

The reception staff were kind and genuinely tried to help, but my experience was still one of the worst I've had at a hotel, and I travel regularly for work. I wouldn't recommend this place, especially for business travelers who need basic professionalism. I booked and prepaid through Booking, yet the service and facilities fell well below an acceptable standard. For what the hotel offers, it felt extremely overpriced. Booking prices were significantly higher than the rates offered directly at the hotel, which struck me as misleading. The room smelled strongly and unpleasantly around the shower and sink. There was used toilet paper in the bathroom and an open bottle in the room, so it didn't seem properly cleaned. The TV didn't work, the hot water was unreliable and uncomfortable, and the tiny parking lot was difficult to access by car. The invoice issue was especially upsetting. I needed a signed invoice for work reimbursement, as I do for business stays. I asked at check-in, sent a written request through Booking that was ignored, and reminded staff several times. On checkout day I waited nearly an hour, only to be told they could provide a printed paper without a signature, which my company couldn't accept. I calmly explained that this had been agreed at check-in and was required by my company. A woman who said she was the owner or manager reacted aggressively, told me to ask Booking for an invoice, refused to sign anything, stormed off, and slammed a door in my face. When I tried to discuss it calmly, she came back shouting, physically pushed me, and asked me to leave in a humiliating way. No guest should be treated like that after trying to resolve an issue respectfully. The reception team's efforts were completely overshadowed by the owner's or management's behavior. I've never had such a bad hotel experience, and I'm still shocked that the property is listed on Booking without proper checks on its procedures and customer service. The room wasn't properly cleaned, there were bathroom odor issues, the TV and hot water had problems, parking was very limited, and the invoice request was handled unacceptably. I absolutely would not recommend this hotel.

Youssef, the local manager, was always helpful, and the breakfasts were perfect. It was easy enough to visit downtown Marrakech, but far enough out to relax by the peaceful pool and enjoy delicious local food. A relaxing break in North Africa.
