Getting there feels like going out of the way, and the pool water was dirty and stagnant. Breakfast was really poor too: the milk seemed spoiled or otherwise not in good condition, and the yogurts were past their expiry date. I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

The room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed, and the breakfast was acceptable. Almounia Hotel and Spa was a welcome place to stop on our way to Essaouira. It's a large setup with dining and function rooms, a pool, and private riads, though the spa wasn't available at the end of October, apparently because it was off season. There was nowhere else to go, so we stayed in the room for the night. The bathroom had a shower but no bath.

The staff were warm and welcoming, especially at reception and the bar, but the hotel itself needs a complete makeover. Our bedrooms felt very dated, and we found cockroaches and other insects in ours. Breakfast was very average with no fruit, and the couscous at dinner had no flavor. We were very disappointed and wouldn't recommend it.

The reception team were friendly, positive, and helpful, and service in general was excellent. We paid 350 for a room in the low season, which felt cheap for the good standard. It's a quiet stop when driving east from Agadir or the other way, though you could also stay a few days. The garden has palm and orange trees around a nice outdoor pool. WiFi connected, but there was no internet access. I'd recommend having breakfast by the pool.

We only stopped for lunch, but the garden felt like a little paradise. The meal was amazing, and the wine and service were both great.
