Hotel Bouregreg

Dinner was small and bland, and breakfast wasn't much better. Most of the breads tasted bland too, and the only thing I could find for them was jam that was meant to be sweet but didn't really taste that way. We later heard a small dinner might be a cultural thing. The room itself was clean, but others in our group complained about dirty rooms, including hairs left in the bathtub. It was cold in our room, and we couldn't get the heat working. We also suspected the balcony door wasn't shutting properly because of the noise from outside, which might explain the chill. The hotel gave the impression it may have been good about 15 years ago, but has been deteriorating since.

Everyone was kind and helpful, spoke excellent English, and I could pay by credit card. I stayed here on my last night in Morocco before flying out. The service was surprisingly good for the moderate price. Getting to the airport took a 20 minute cab ride and cost me about $23 USD, but I thought it was worth it to avoid missing my flight. I asked for a cab at 4:30 AM, and someone knocked on my door when it arrived.

The rooms were clean, though pretty old, and the hotel is well placed near downtown Rabat and easy to reach from the main road. The block itself is ugly, with lots of traffic and noise at night. I'd suggest it to people who don't have many expectations, maybe just for a night or a few.
