Riad Almazhar

The room was larger than I expected from the Booking pictures, and the place was spotless, with beautiful design, a very peaceful rooftop terrace, and AC that worked really well. We had a lovely two-night stay at Riad Al mazhar. The people there were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was fresh and delicious. I only have a few suggestions. For anyone staying more than two nights, it’d be good to have more breakfast choices. Also, €299 for two nights in June felt a little pricey for Rabat, since it’s not really a tourist spot, though that’s just my opinion. Finding decent parking nearby was difficult too.

The hosts made Moroccan hospitality feel very personal. We chatted with them, and every morning at breakfast they asked how we were doing and how we liked the stay, always smiling and being kind and polite. Breakfast was warm and delicious each day, and we left the table full. The room was beautiful, the AC worked, and it was cleaned regularly. The Riad itself was gorgeous, and its medina location is perfect, close to the beach and Rabat market. One small heads-up if you’re not Muslim: there are many mosques in this area, and the nearby call to prayer might startle you at times. After our stay, our only regret was not tipping for the exceptional service.

Among all the places we stayed during our two weeks in Morocco, including some five-star hotels, Riad Almazhar was one of our favorites, with a quality that felt like a premium hotel. We stopped in Rabat for one night and found the riad quaint and beautiful. The staff welcomed us with tea and checked us in quickly. Our rooftop-floor room was spacious and clean, with a TV, king bed, and all modern amenities. Breakfast the next morning was delicious, and the staff were so friendly. It was honestly the best breakfast we had in a riad, as some riads can be stingy with the quality of what they serve. The location is central. I’m not sure it’s ideal for solo or female travelers going out late, if that matters to you. Rabat is generally safe, but parts of the Medina were dim when I went for a walk. Just be cautious and respectful. 10/10.

Riad Almazhar was the perfect place to wind down at the end of our Morocco trip. It’s a charming, quaint riad in the heart of Rabat Medina, and a real little oasis of calm. Aziza, who owns and actively runs the place, and the staff took such good care of us. They helped with anything we needed, including arranging airport transfers for our very early departures. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Thank you 🙏
