Sawadi

The meals were genuinely good, and Sawadi Ecolodge has lovely views in a beautiful setting. Still, the stay had some real drawbacks. There was a strong, unpleasant smell in parts of the property, and it made it hard to unwind. We had no running hot water, disappointing in the cooler weather, and the WiFi was weak and unreliable the whole time. Three dogs roam the ecolodge, which may suit some guests but wasn’t ideal for anyone uncomfortable around dogs. The place has potential, but those issues made the stay less enjoyable than we’d expected.

The rooms are actually kasbahs, decorated with real taste and an authentic feel. They’d put fresh roses on the table and provided homemade toiletries for the bathroom. We stayed just one night, and by morning it felt as if paradise birds were singing all around us. Such a superb, natural place, far from everything. ❤️

The first time we arrived, it was really hard to find, but that’s part of the experience. If you’re driving, take the shortest route across the Wadi and go up through the village. The route that looks easier farther up really isn’t. My girlfriend and I stayed three nights and were so glad we did. It’s like a little desert paradise, with excellent food grown on the farm, and lovely little rooms scattered around the property that each feel private. We were made very welcome.

It took a little effort to get there, but everything worked out fine. The property is big and green, with space to walk around and spend the day, plus a nice pool. Our room was spacious and tastefully set up, with fresh flowers on the table and natural toiletries they make themselves.
