Ferme By Ikalimo

We came back for New Year 2025/26, more than six years after our first family visit in 2019. The place has changed quite a bit: access from the valley is easier now, where before we had to cross part of the village by stairs. There’s also a restaurant down in the valley, linked by stairs, and a pool that I assume is open in summer. The staff were still warm and accommodating, and we felt well looked after from the moment we arrived. The saloon was my favorite spot for tea, a big, cozy room lined with rugs and duvets. The animals were fun to watch, too. With the caregiver’s permission, we could feed the horses, donkeys, doves and others, and I even got to ride a horse for a little while. There are two playgrounds as well, one with a basketball hoop and a safe archery setup, so kids have plenty to do. Our room was lovely, with lots of storage, bathrobes, warm blankets, and a conditioner that also worked as heating. Breakfast was a real highlight: soothing soup, fresh bread, msemen and baghrir with toppings, eggs, Moroccan tea, coffee with milk, and orange juice. On our first visit in 2019, we also enjoyed the good food and service, fantastic views, and the homey, comfortable feel. There were lots of cute animals then, too, which I imagine kids would enjoy watching. Thanks to all the staff and the manager for making our New Year stay such a good one. We hope to come back soon!

The view and location were lovely, but we didn’t feel welcome at any point, and the visit was a bad experience. Our food took a while to arrive, and one dish was missing, so one person in our group had no lunch. When we got the bill, they had added another dish by mistake. The waiter argued with us when we pointed it out. The food itself needs improvement, and the waiters were rude and seemed on edge. I wouldn’t go back. One star, though I wish I could give less.

We spent three days at Ikalimo with our two kids, aged 3 and 4. The kids loved the painting activity, and the animals, games and swimming pool helped make the stay easy and enjoyable for the whole family. The Family Suite was clean, quiet, practical and elegant, and the breakfasts were amazingly tasty. We also enjoyed the restaurant food. Mohammed gave us a lot of attention, and the service from the Ikalimo staff was much appreciated. It’s a peaceful spot with direct access to the river. Don’t hesitate!

We stayed with the family and found it clean, with good food and friendly service. There are several rooms and little corners where you can relax. A great family-friendly place, highly recommended.
