Riad Mama H&K

We had a wonderful visit and would happily stay again when we're back in Meknès. The rooms were very clean, breakfast was delicious, and the host was kind, helpful, and full of recommendations. Thanks to him and his family for making our stay special. They're adding buildings around the main riad and working on a spa and hammam, so we're looking forward to seeing how the place grows. We really don't understand the negative Google comments.

The place looked nice, but our stay was the worst of my life. We found bed bugs and roaches throughout. At 3am we had to pack and wake the kids to leave. The owner was extremely rude, never apologized, told us to keep quiet so other guests wouldn't hear, and said to go to a hotel if we weren't happy. There was no hot water in the rooms. The advertised private parking wasn't available at all, so we had to carry our bags for more than ten minutes through narrow, rocky alleys to reach the door. The rooftop was dusty, closed off, and full of construction materials, nothing like the listing. Before we left, they asked us to report a no-show so they wouldn't have to pay commission or fees. That seemed to be all they cared about. Horrible stay and even worse service. I would not recommend it.

On June 20th, 2024, I booked three rooms at Riad Mama H&K in Meknes, Morocco, through Orbitz for myself, my immediate family, and other relatives, including my elderly mom. When we got there, nobody was at the address. We waited outside for an hour, then realized we'd been scammed. The listed numbers went unanswered, and nearby residents couldn't give us any useful information. There was clear signage that made it look legitimate, but it was a well-executed scam. We drove five hours back to where we'd started, since we thought a police report in Morocco was unlikely to help. I'm sharing this to warn others. The rest of our trip was great, at least.

This hidden jewel is in a part of town that's being renovated, so keep your eyes open or you might miss it. The owners are gracious, and the hotel's been in their family for generations. There's something interesting and authentic everywhere you look. If you're after a wonderful place to stay with amazing hosts, I'd absolutely recommend it. Great for family fun too.
