Funky Mamaliga Hostel

The beds, showers, and other facilities are good, and the small place is clean. It’s dirt cheap, as they say in Britain, not too shabby. The staff are friendly, but since they live in, they can be noisy. One night we were all trying to sleep in a dorm while they talked really loudly, like noisy tourists. Luckily, they quieted down when someone went out to complain.

This was once my favourite hostel in Moldova, but this summer they started having parties on weekends. I don’t think a hostel is the right place for a bar atmosphere. I’d rather have fun outside and come back to the hostel, you sheep. Unfortunately, I’m looking for somewhere else to stay on my visits to Chișinău.

Getting proper sleep here is almost impossible. Music plays very loudly from reception, even in the middle of the night, and the staff don’t pay attention to the parties happening in the hostel. Not recommended.

Cheerful atmosphere, very nice staff, good facilities, and a good location. I’ve stayed in almost all the hostels in Moldova, and this is one of the best I’ve been to. I’d strictly recommend it to everyone.
