Chateau Vartely

The scenery is what I’ll remember most, with beautiful terraces around the houses and restaurant, a lovely garden, and little huts worth visiting. The tour was explained well, but it felt short and less personal than the others we’d done. Given how much wine they have, including some really good bottles, I expected more. The tasting and restaurant meal were okay, though neither felt as good as they could have. It was a letdown at the end of an otherwise very good wine day in such a beautiful place. Maybe we just caught it on an off day, but I’d still say give it a try. You might enjoy it.

Silvia’s wine tour was one of the best parts of our visit. Her English is excellent, and she shared the winery’s story in such an engaging way. The whole team clearly cares about what they do, and we left with lovely memories. We’d happily return and are already telling friends about the place. A few things could be improved. The fence at the bottom blocks the view, so guests end up standing on it to see the scenery. An open terrace or viewing platform would help. The sauna didn’t feel inviting to us as a couple, with its dark room and pool table. We also missed being able to have breakfast delivered to our room or a private terrace. At the placinta workshop, staff were kind and tried hard, but we didn’t get to make the dough or fry the pastries ourselves, so it wasn’t as hands-on as we expected. Wishing the team success, and hoping more people discover this beautiful place. With a few small changes, it could be a perfect spot for a relaxing stay.
