The apartment is 9 km from Virpazar, so arrange a car or bikes. Once there, it's a wonderful place to slow down and enjoy nature, with an amazing view over the vineyards and gardens where locals grow their own food. The family made a special connection with us. We had lovely conversations, sharing jokes and delicious local food from their garden, thanks to the youngest son speaking a bit of English and plenty of patience on both sides. They were the kindest, warmest and most hospitable people we met in Montenegro. I'll never forget this beautiful place and hope to return.
The hosts seemed really friendly, and the house was comfortable. We ordered the home-cooked meal and got delicious fresh fried fish from the lake. There were various body products, and they even did our laundry. The downsides: the Wi-Fi was out for most of our stay, and after it was fixed the router still didn't reach the whole house. It was also very cold indoors during the rainy days in May, though they gave us lots of blankets. We thought a welcome drink was included, and they kindly offered a bottle of wine, but we were charged for it in the end.
Mira and Djoko were the best hosts. The food she makes is divine, and Djoko is always happy to tell a local story or three. Our 11-year-old fell in love with them and didn't want to eat anywhere else during our stay in Montenegro. We'll definitely be back.
Mirjana made breakfast feel like being at home, with generous portions and food straight from her garden. She also offers plenty of homemade things she produces herself, including wine and brandies. She's a kind, lovely woman and by far the best host in this region and in Montenegro. The accommodation is inexpensive, very clean and comfortable, and you can visit her vineyards and garden. If you'd like, she can even take you to a local church from the 7th century. I recommend eating lunch at the beautiful antique winery instead of going to local restaurants. She can also suggest a great boat ride company: Eagle Boat, on instagram @eagle_boat. The people there are amazing and explain the lake and surrounding area. We were delighted with our visit to this winery and accommodation. All our recommendations, and thanks, Mirjana!
