Hotel Evropa

For a city visit, this hotel works well if you want convenience and value. I’d choose it for a couple of nights while exploring or stopping over, rather than for a luxury resort stay. If you’re after a spa or pool, or a high-end resort feel, you may want a more upscale hotel. For most stays in the city, it does the job.

The hosts were very kind, and the staff went out of their way to help. They even let me leave supplies there while I was away hiking the Peaks of Balkans. It’s a great place for a short stay, and the food was good and inexpensive.

We had to sleep in thermal clothes because the room was freezing. The heating, listed as ATC, barely worked, and staff said it was already at the highest setting. The water stayed lukewarm, and there wasn’t enough for two proper showers. The room was old and poorly maintained, the sheets weren’t properly covered, and smoke smell filled the hotel. The woman at reception was also very rude and unhelpful. There’s no lift, and reception and all the rooms are upstairs, so after travelling we had to carry all our luggage up the stairs. The hotel is right by a train station, which made it noisy and unpleasant, and there was no view. For what they charge, it wasn’t worth it. The place felt dirty and uncomfortable, and I wouldn’t stay again or recommend it.

I paid £70 for two nights, then was asked for another €45 after I realized I’d accidentally booked a double room for single use. The extra charge seemed unreasonable for the quality, and when I asked to leave and get a refund, they refused. The room was cold, with old furniture and a strong cigarette smell that made it hard to stay there. The air conditioning was positioned far from the room and didn’t help. Service was awful, with little regard for guests’ comfort or concerns. My stay at Evropa Hotel in Podgorica was one of my worst, and there are better options for the same price or less.
