The landlords were really nice and helpful, and the view was lovely. There was a private beach and pool, though getting there meant tackling more than 200 steep steps. The beach is rocky, with some quite sharp rocks. The apartments feel dated, and the kitchen and bathroom were so cramped they made me claustrophobic, with barely room to turn around. The AC was useless at night unless I wanted it blowing straight at my head. The sandy beach in the city center is almost a mile away. I'd give it two and a half stars at best.

Vera was especially helpful from the start. On our first day, despite the intense heat, she walked with us into town, showed us around, explained things, helped with shopping, and shared the number of a taxi driver she knew. The hosts were very welcoming. From the room's terrace, the sea, cliffs, and old town fortress made for a breathtaking view. The villa's private beach is for guests only, and was a lovely change from the dirty town beaches. The water was crystal clear and calm. The rooms are a bit tired and could use a makeover, but the sea sunsets made up for that. The hard part is the very steep, narrow road to the villa, which an inexperienced driver may struggle with. The center is a 10-15 minute walk, and quite pleasant when it isn't too hot. I highly recommend Villa Anastasia for a romantic getaway.

We stayed from June 1, 2018, to June 15, 2018, and had a wonderful time. The hosts were very friendly, and while the accommodations weren't luxurious, they were perfectly adequate. The private, fully equipped beach is a major plus, especially since such beaches are practically nonexistent in Ulcinj. Getting down is one thing, but the climb back up is the hard part, about 120-200 steps depending on the route. You really need a car to travel around this country. The views are unforgettable, and the mountain air has wonderful scents; nature is pristine. Since the country is mountainous, secondary roads can be so narrow that two cars can barely pass. If you rent a car, hill assist and hill descent assist are useful features. All in all, it's worth it.

The owners are kind and pleasant, and do everything they can to make your stay warm and enjoyable. This is the sort of place where you're welcomed wholeheartedly and find yourself wanting to return. The kindness and hospitality stay with you long after you leave. It's a wonderful spot for a family holiday, with clear water, a beautiful beach, fresh sea air, gentle warm sunshine, mountain views, and lovely evening scents.
