Hotel Kulla e Balshajve

The terrace was a lovely spot to sit in the swinging chair and take in the sea view. Our upper floor room was clean, tidy, and had what we needed, including a small fridge, kettle, TV, nightstands, and wardrobe. The bathroom was fine, though I think they should add a hair dryer. Wi-Fi was good in the room, weak on the terrace, and unavailable in the restaurant area, so bear that in mind if you want to work on a laptop. Rooms were cleaned daily, fresh towels were supplied, and laundry service was available. The hotel sits in Ulcinj's old town at the edge of the castle, with a breathtaking view of the Adriatic Sea right outside the window. Getting there means climbing stairs along a 100-150 meter uphill path, which isn't ideal for people with mobility issues or wheelchair users. There's also a small restaurant on the castle edge where you can have a drink and enjoy the view. Breakfast was tasty and had a good variety. I tried the restaurant's pizza for dinner and wasn't impressed. Other menu choices include soup, salad, risotto, meat, and fish. Dinner averages around €15 per person, and drinks cost €5-€10 depending on what you order, whether hot, cold, or alcoholic. The Albanian couple who run the hotel are genuinely sweet and warm-hearted, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It was easy to communicate in English, Albanian, French, Bosnian, Serbian, and Croatian. The stay felt peaceful, historic, and heartfelt. A few small things could be better, but I was very satisfied. Thanks to the lovely couple who greeted us with a smile each day, the friendly lady who cleaned our room, and the kind waitstaff. We really appreciate everything! 🙏🏻♥️
