La Ribaudière

The restaurant is amazing, and the hotel is comfortable enough, with WiFi and a central location, though there’s nothing especially memorable about the place. They can arrange airport pickup or drop-off for 80,000 ar, and there’s always a taxi outside to take you around, but the fares are quite expensive. Good value for money. I’d come back, though it might not be my first choice.

The food and service are really good, and the stay was alright otherwise. But the hotel regularly runs out of both water and electricity, so expect some kind of backup for each. The WiFi in room 9, outside the main building, is really poor.

The staff were friendly, the food was okay, and the bed was alright. There was decent hot water in the shower. The rooms are really small, though, and there was lots of noise from people and construction. They didn’t have many vegan or gluten-free choices, but did make us pumpkin soup and potatoes. WiFi worked well when it was on, but cut out a few times in the room. It’s an okay place in the heart of a city that can feel pretty crazy and overwhelming to some. We stayed outside the city for all our other visits.

The restaurant at the hotel was fantastic, probably the best food and service we had in Madagascar. Highly recommend it. The hotel is well placed for walking around the city, and it’s clean and spacious, with basic facilities.
