We loved our newly built bungalow, it felt like a honeymoon stay. The lodge is completely cut off from nearby places, so meals are all-inclusive, and the food was unexpectedly good. The service was very good too, with an attentive staff. Big thanks to the manager. It’s a peaceful, remote spot reached only by boat, especially fun for kitesurfers but also suited to a quiet, relaxing break. There’s a little beach for launching and landing kites, and a small team to keep an eye on you and give lessons. When we visited in October 2022, the equipment was quite poor, though they said they planned to improve it. You can also take downwind or boat trips to a stunning area of shallow, flat water.

The food is a real highlight. “Chef” somehow turns out wonderful meals every time, and the crab curry on the beach during our unforgettable downwinder to La Piscine was something else. Out on the water, the wind was strong, the lagoon uncrowded, and the sea an unreal emerald color. We even spotted several turtles while kiting. Getting there means crossing the incredible Mer d’Emeraude, and once you arrive, the place feels peaceful and far removed from the rest of the world. It’s amazing how well it’s run given that isolation. The comfortable chalets do come with mosquitoes from the nearby mangroves, so mosquito nets are provided. Kiting is the main activity. The school next door offers lessons, though the spot seems better for more advanced riders. Launching and landing can feel intimidating at first, but the staff are extremely helpful. Even though it’s a lagoon, at 30-plus knots the chop builds quickly, so the water isn’t always flat.

The staff were friendly and super helpful, and the food was fantastic. The rustic wooden bungalows are great, right by a huge, amazing kite spot.

The view is gorgeous, and the rooms are really nicely done and clean. There’s a pool and solar-powered electricity with a backup, plus a super nice staff and owner.
