A peaceful little oasis, just beautiful.

The boat trip in the marine park was a highlight. From Belo, you can visit sandy islands and go snorkeling; it costs around 400,000 ariary, with entrance fees extra at 45,000 ariary per person for foreigners. Getting there from Morondava means a motorized pirogue ride of about 2.5 hours, roughly 700,000 ariary, and it’s a pleasant crossing. I’d spend at least two nights in Belo sur Mer if you’re in Morondava, it was a wonderful experience! 🙏🙏🙏 The whales arrive in June, though we’ve only seen one so far.

People here make their living from fishing and building dhows, and Belo sur Mer still feels like a small village untouched by time or crowds. It’s a little paradise not far from Morondava, reachable by road or sea, and hotels can arrange transfers. Offshore, the coral islands are beautiful for swimming and snorkeling, with excursions offered by the hotels. I’d recommend stopping for a few days on the way to Tulear, or making a short trip from Morondava.
