Tropic Hôtel

I planned to stay about five days and wound up staying two weeks. It’s easy to get comfortable here. The big pool is kept clean, and the cushioned loungers are comfortable. In the mornings and evenings, three different kinds of lemurs come through. The rooms are large, with a nice outdoor sitting deck, a floor fan, AC, mosquito nets, a small desk and an extra single bed. Philippe and the staff were a fantastic, friendly group and helped me despite my limited French. It’s an affordable little hotel, just a short walk from Manga Be beach. My one gripe is the wifi: you get 1 GB coupons at a time, so calls or shows are hard when you keep running out and have to ask for another.

The owner is a well-known fisher, so he may be able to help if you want to fish. We really enjoyed the food, especially the zebu carpaccio, and the prices were as friendly as the staff. The hotel is very nice, with clean rooms, a romantic bed and a warm shower. The mattress felt a bit hard, but they changed it straight away for a super soft one. There’s a lovely garden with flowers and chameleons, and the pool is nice too. It’s only a minute from a postcard-perfect beach. Staff speak French and English. We strongly recommend it!

The pool and deck chairs were lovely and clean, and the staff were very friendly and always around when needed. We’d recommend staying here.
