December 2025 update: the room was well maintained, the bathroom sink issue had been fixed, and a large mirror helped make up for the lack of a full-length one. The front desk officer again agreed to a late checkout. I ordered the poisson entier au coco several times, and the restaurant had shrimp then. This is one of the best hotels I know in Tulear. Service was spot on, attentive when needed without getting in the way. My room was above average, though not the best I’ve seen. It had a balcony overlooking a majestic palm tree I fell in love with. Hot water was readily available, though I didn’t really need it in the hot season. I missed having a full-length mirror, and there wasn’t an iron handy, perhaps one is available on request. There was no kettle, and the sink in my room drained a little slowly and needed clearing. None of that got in the way of an otherwise thoroughly enjoyable stay. I even got a free late checkout because my flight was in the evening, after I explained my situation to the manager at reception. The restaurant was lovely, with someone always keeping an eye on things and apologizing for any staff slip-ups. In the hot season, though, I wouldn’t eat on the outside terrace because there were too many flies and little could be done about them. I loved the "Poisson entier au coco" and recommend it to seafood lovers. It made up for my disappointment that shrimp wasn’t on the menu that season. I didn’t use the pool, but I heard it’s well maintained and has very good service.
