Rey Hotel & Restorant

The hotel didn’t tell me there’d be a wedding. The noise went on until 00.30, and fireworks right outside our window sounded like gunshots. The beds were awful, and I woke up unrested with back pain. At the restaurant, I ordered a “250g sirloin steak” that looked more like 80g and definitely wasn’t sirloin. It looked and tasted like a shoe sole. The waiters smoked inside and weren’t attentive. Stay away, this was the worst hotel stay of my life. Such a scam!

The garden looked nice, and the staff were friendly. But the place wasn’t clean: they didn’t change the sheets or take out the trash, the beds were very uncomfortable, and there were spiders in the bathroom. There were weddings every night, which we weren’t told about before booking. We wouldn’t return or recommend the hotel.

The views and location were the best parts. The hotel was very dated, with old, tasteless furniture that made it feel almost depressing. The beds were very low, nearly on the floor. Since the hotel was empty, they gave us a really large room, which was nice. They didn’t mention beforehand that they wouldn’t serve alcohol during Ramadan, so we had to drive 5-10 minutes to the nearest pub or restaurant. They also said there’d be no staff for breakfast, so they prepared the plates in the evening, brought them to our room, and we ate in the morning. For a place calling itself a 4-star hotel, there wasn’t even a kettle in the room.

We had a lovely meal in a roomy, welcoming atmosphere, with a stunning view of Mavrovo Lake. The service was impressively quick, which made the relaxing visit even better. I’d recommend it for a pleasant meal.
