We checked in today, and getting to the apartment felt like traveling back in time. You enter a 4 star hotel, go to the 3rd floor, then pass through a door to reach an apartment on the 6th. The elevator must date from World War I or II and only goes up to the 5th floor. I'm not brave enough for that. The stairs to the apartment were surrounded by broken glass, mould, and dirt. The room seemed clean, but by evening there were bugs and spiders everywhere. The balcony was completely filthy. Four of the five electric switches were broken, with wires showing. Very dangerous. There are two TVs but only one remote. 🤦♀️ I thought breakfast was included in the price, but then found out it costs 26 euros.

We had a comfortable, spacious stay at Alexander Square Apartment in Skopje. It was clean and well equipped, and even though the area is lively, the apartment itself was quiet and felt safe. Cafes and bars are all around, and the Old Bazaar is a short walk away. Alexander Square is right nearby, and most of the city's main attractions are within walking distance. Tours are easy to join too, since many start close by. Highly recommended if you want to stay in the heart of Skopje!

The manager was very accommodating when we arrived early, letting us check in ahead of time and join breakfast. The next day, the hot water thermostat broke, so we had no hot water. When I raised it the following day, especially since the weather was cold, the manager moved us to a different hotel across the street with the same amenities. Things can go wrong sometimes, but how they're handled matters. We're very grateful to the management of Alexandar Square Boutique hotel for the amazing service and great location!
