Holiday Inn Skopje by IHG

The location worked really well, especially for taking the airport bus back and forth. The room was fine and maid service OK. Breakfast had a good range of options; you can get an omelette if you ask a server for one. We were surprised by the instruction not to put toilet paper in the toilet. We’ve come across that in other countries, but didn’t expect it at this kind of hotel. There are lots of restaurants on the main Square. Just behind the construction across the street, there’s also a great local place you can find on Google. It’s inexpensive, tasty, and has indoor and outdoor seating. The burger kiosk beside the front door is tasty too, and quick and inexpensive.

I don’t stay at Holiday Inn often, maybe one to five times a year, and I haven’t stayed at this one. This week I asked the front desk person about the airport shuttle twice, and he represented Holiday Inn amazingly. If I’d known they had employees like him, I would have stayed there. The last time I asked was just after midnight on October 4. He said he used to be a bellboy. Thank you, Holiday Inn.

There’s plenty to do within walking distance, and the hotel is in a very tourist friendly area. The staff were great. My only issue was the room lighting. To turn on just the toilet light, you have to switch on all the lights.

We were left hungry late at night with no food available. How can a hotel kitchen be closed in the evening? We couldn’t even eat for sahur. The restaurant had been closed off for the referees who came for that day’s match. Disgraceful. We’ll expose you everywhere.
