Hotel Karpos

We only planned to stay one night and booked despite the reviews, but the hotel pleasantly surprised us. Reception was clean, and the staff member who checked us in was friendly. They upgraded us from a double room to an apartment. Our room was clean, the bathroom had plenty of supplies, the beds were comfortable, and the air conditioning worked. Breakfast was included, fresh, and tasty. It looked like the hotel had done some maintenance and was taking feedback seriously. We also used the fitness room 👍.

The staff made our stay in Skopje comfortable and welcoming, and they were very helpful. Receptionist Emma took care of our specific requests and gave us useful advice about transport. Thanks again, Emma 👍

The hotel smelled bad everywhere, from the entrance to the rooms, restaurant, and corridors. We saw guest service staff arguing and shouting at a group trying to check in, right in front of us. It was awful to watch, and we felt sorry for those guests. Our room wasn’t clean or ready: there was rubbish in the bin, hair in the bathroom, and towels were missing. Breakfast was overcrowded, so we had to wait for a table with the kids. After the kids left, dining staff behaved rudely and shouted at guests about where they could sit. The buffet had been left in a mess by children, with no coffee or food left, while staff chatted and joked in a corner instead of replenishing it. Ridiculous place to stay.

The hotel has been recently renovated and everything looked great. We had a five star experience at a four star hotel. The included continental breakfast had plenty of variety. You can eat other meals at the hotel, and there are also lots of good restaurants about a 10 minute walk away, with a good quality to price ratio. A bus stop right outside takes you to the city center in five stops.
