Golden Wing Motel

The hotel is new, with clean rooms and friendly staff. There’s a balcony in every room, and hot showers are available. It’s very close to Kalaw train station, and about a 10-minute walk to Kalaw market. The room price is reasonable. Breakfast is served on the roof terrace, where you get a nice view of kalaw city.

We had a really good stay, thanks in large part to Sai, the manager, and the crew. They were professional, friendly, and good to deal with. The room was nice, had a balcony, and we took a few photos there. You can see Kalaw train station from it. There’s no air-conditioning, but February weather in Kalaw didn’t call for it. The included breakfast on the roof terrace was toast, sunny-side-up fried eggs, and coffee, and we enjoyed both the meal and the morning view. I booked Golden Wing after Dream Villa Hotel turned me down and asked for a deposit because I wasn’t a foreign tourist. Golden Wing had no deposit policy, and the owner, Khin M. Htwe, took my booking over the phone. Khin M. Htwe, Sai, and all the staff were very friendly, helpful, and professional.

It’s in a quiet, cozy spot not far from the town center. The place feels more like a small art gallery than a little motel, and the rooftop bar is an authentic, artistic place to spend the night.

The location is handy, close to good restaurants, myoma market, the rail station, and other places. But they need to explain what services are available more clearly, including the breakfast menu and room service. They don’t clean the room daily unless guests ask. The electricity also went out several times a day.
