The included breakfast had a nice range of local desserts, and the meals prepared for our tour group were excellent. The staff were very friendly, especially in the dining room. The hotel is right in the heart of Mrauk U on the main road, within walking distance of the northern group of temples and easy to reach by public transport. Accessibility is a major problem. There are many stairs to every room, the reception, and the dining room. There are no disabled toilets, and the shower in the bathtub can't be used from a wheelchair. The room was clean, but used bathroom accessories hadn't been changed. The rooms themselves felt safe, though the grounds seemed easy for the public to enter. Privacy was generally maintained, but some nights there was loud music from a nearby place. The room had standard facilities and six chairs, four inside and two outside, but no usable table.

This place doesn't deserve the description "boutique hotel," and the claim of "Free WiFi in all areas" is misleading. Wi-Fi apparently only works in the restaurant, and it wasn't working at all during our stay. The room was filthy, moldy, and old, and shouldn't cost more than 20USD/night. The mattress was so soft it gave me a back ache, and the bathroom was a joke, with rusty, dirty fixtures and a leaking shower head. There was no mosquito net on the windows, which is a shame since opening them would help air out rooms that badly need it. It took 30 minutes to get an omelett, and it wasn't particularly good. Forget the appealing buffet breakfast photo. They probably only offer that when occupancy is full, which I could understand, but they were nowhere near full when we stayed. They also gave me a strange excuse for not providing a payment receipt, saying it was issued by their office in Yangon. I didn't understand, and hope I won't be charged twice. The soundproofing is nonexistent. Good luck sleeping when the nearby monastery is blasting music through loudspeakers at full volume. For all these reasons, I strongly advise against staying here. There are much better guesthouses and hotels in town, and we tried some.

Mold covered the walls in both rooms we saw. The bungalows and amenities are generally old and poorly maintained. The price is the biggest issue for me: asking 50$ for this quality of accommodation really isn't reasonable.

Nawarat hotel is in a handy spot near Shitthaung Paya, Htukkant Thein temple, and other places, so most of the famous sites are walkable. The room facilities are old, the internet is poor, and we couldn't pay by credit card.

The rooms are spacious and very clean, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Wi-Fi doesn't reach some of the rooms.
