Hotel Madira

The breakfast spot has a nice view, and the food was okay. There’s a small workout room that’s decent, though the hotel could use some renovation and the service needs a lot of improvement. For hot water, you have to press the red button 15 minutes before showering. Nothing here was beyond what I could tolerate.

The hotel advertised 24-hour electricity and WiFi on its page, but the generator was switched off for about five hours in both the evening and at night. I expect hotel guests to get better electricity and air conditioning than they would at home. This was a terrible experience with the electricity service, and the advertising feels like a blatant lie. Don’t stay here, choose another hotel. 😡

Room service was okay. Breakfast is listed as 6:30-9:00, but it wasn’t ready until about 7:00, and once guests finished an item, it wasn’t replenished. The new building has no lift. The old building has one, but it doesn’t go up to the dining room, so you still have to walk one floor. There’s a gym, but no swimming pool.

The towels and bedsheets smelled bad and were dirty. The hotel isn’t like it was 2 years ago. I’d planned to stay five nights, but ended up moving elsewhere because the rooms were dirty and smelled foul. It needs a lot of maintenance and a proper housekeeping system.
