Lunch and dinner here weren’t worth what they cost. The chef seems to use a lot of salt, so diabetic guests should be careful. On the second day, my chapati was about half the size it had been on day one, roughly as small as a South Indian papad. The soup also came in a bowl chipped around several edges. I wondered if the hotel had reserved the better bowls for a corporate gathering instead of the customers who had booked.

The rooms were lovely, and the beds were really comfortable. The sea view was less impressive: trees blocked about 80% of it, and the rooms were a bit far from the water. We arrived at 9:22 in the morning and paid an extra 35,000 MMK for breakfast. Service was mixed, and cleaning our room after checkout took around 30 minutes to an hour, so we went out while we waited. The location was fine. I'd give the stay 4 out of 5.

I looked at Palm, Yacht Resort, and Bay of Bengal, but came back to Aureum for its atmosphere and name. The breakfast was a big part of that: Myanmar and Western choices, plus plenty of sweets, cakes, and drinks. The rooms had a nice feel and comfortable beds, too. One thing bothered me: cleaners were sweeping around 7:20 while we were eating, and ash and dirt could get into the food. They should do that around 6 instead. Still, a really nice hotel, 8/10.

We got a 50% discount, then found rats in the room. The staff and service were good, but the room needs serious repairs to keep mice out.

The room was quiet and comfortable, and the beach view was beautiful. Breakfast was very good, too. A handy place if you want somewhere cool to stay. ☺️☺️☺️
