Ananta Bagan Hotel

In dry-season heat, this place was a welcome refuge. The food was great, and the staff were as kind as could be. The pool was really nice, though a little warm. The rooms were great, and free bikes were included. Scooters cost a bit much. Those mango cocktails at happy hour? Winning at life. I’d definitely come back.

The setting was beautiful and peaceful, and the staff were attentive and caring. We stayed three nights and had a great time. The rooms were super clean, and the pool was wonderful, cool enough to feel refreshing after a hot day among the pagodas. Breakfast was better than what we’ve had at most places in Myanmar. The concierge can arrange nearly anything and even works hard to find last-minute balloon trips. I’d absolutely recommend the hotel to a friend.

The staff were kind, considerate, and made our stay feel special. My wife and I stayed at Ananta Bagan in January 2020 and had an amazing time. It’s well placed for visiting the major temples and pagodas, and the hotel offers free bikes and electric scooters for rent at very reasonable prices. The pool area was nice, though a bit noisy because it’s beside a busy street. My one complaint was the shower: it looked great, but the design meant water ended up all over the floor. I’d stay at Ananta Bagan again if I return to Bagan.

We had nothing but praise for the service. Our bus wasn’t until 9pm, so after checkout they let us leave our bags in the lobby and arranged for us to shower in the spa rooms before heading to the bus station. We arrived at 6am and were given complimentary breakfast, then allowed to check in at 11am so we could rest. The front desk was excellent and always ready to help, and most staff spoke English very well. Our room was huge, well equipped, and had both a bathtub and rain shower. Breakfast was plentiful, with breads and pastries, salads and cold cuts, assorted cheeses, local snacks, rice, noodles, and an omelette station. There was a choice of poolside tables or indoor seating for a warmer atmosphere, and towels were ready by the pool.
