Golden Crown Motel

For 8usd, I had no complaints and would totally stay again. It’s what you’d expect from a 2-3 star hotel: clean towels even in a "dormitory", and a breakfast selection that isn’t huge but is more than enough. The staff are the best part, kind, polite, helpful, and they speak English. Did I say kind? It’s 15 minutes from the bus station, with a shop next door, which is rare in Bagan. There’s bike rental too. Restaurants are a 5-10 minute walk away, while the pagodas are farther, so you’re better off renting a bike.

The e-scooters made exploring Bagan’s historical park a relaxed way to get around, especially at sunrise and sunset. They’re quiet and don’t add exhaust pollution, which felt like a thoughtful choice for tourism. I hope more countries in Southeast Asia follow Bagan’s example, and that local people can use them too to help reduce air pollution. I also had a very good stay at Golden Crown Motel. It was easy to reach, close to the township center and historical park, and good value. My room and bed were clean, breakfast was great, and there was a pleasant area to sit and eat. The staff were helpful, and they could arrange tours and bus bookings. I’d stay there again.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the WiFi worked okay most of the time. The room was clean, with soap, shower gel, a toothbrush and toothpaste provided. Breakfast was the best I had in Myanmar, with rice, noodles, fries, omelette, bananas, pancakes and more.

We found a good price for Golden Crown on Agoda. The room was spacious and the breakfast was excellent. The air conditioning was a bit weak, and the WiFi kept cutting in and out. Still, it’s a good budget option in Bagan.
