Hotel Yadanarbon Bagan

We spent five days here and had a terrific time. The staff were attentive throughout, and the manager was friendly and made sure guests were well looked after. The food was great, including the buffet breakfast. They also arrange transfers to the airport and Jetty, and have eBikes available as early as 4am. For the price and quality, this is probably the best managed hotel in New Bagan.

The reception team were especially friendly and helpful, and I appreciated having a kettle and coffee in the room. Breakfast was modest, with eggs cooked to order, and it was lovely to sit by the pool. The hotel has a nice Burmese theme. I stayed three nights and found it comfortable and good value. It’s on the edge of New Bagan, though, so the ferry pier and airport are quite far away. A taxi to the pier cost 15000 kyat. My room faced the road and was noisy, particularly with construction going on outside the window in Aug '19.

Breakfast was okay, with eggs, sausage, rice, some other Asian dishes and fruit. The staff tried their best, and the hotel itself was quite okay. The bathrooms need attention: the fittings and furniture are worn, and the smell wasn’t pleasant in either room after we changed rooms once. The walls are thin, so you hear people in nearby rooms and cars outside. Not a good fit if you’re a light sleeper.

Helpful staff and good value. The room was comfortable, and you could rent an e-bike for 1000 kyats an hour. I wasn’t keen on the bathroom layout, and the hot water didn’t get warm enough for a shower.
