Morning Star Guest House made a great base for exploring old Bagan. We borrowed E-Scooters and rode from pagoda to pagoda. The building has a Bauhaus style, and the rooms were very nice and clean. Staff were friendly and supportive. Breakfast had a good mix of Western and local food, served on a relaxed rooftop terrace. We had a great time :)

The guest house is a few blocks off the main road, so it was quiet and felt more like being in a Burmese town than a tourist town, while still just minutes from what you need. We could walk to restaurants and tea houses, and rented an ebike. The rooms were big and clean, with a desk and a balcony with chairs. There's a nice garden outside and a rooftop space for breakfast. The owners and staff were friendly and helpful. I'd definitely recommend it if you want a good night's sleep.

The place is in a very local area, which I loved, and close enough to walk to restaurants. They even let you have pizza delivered. What made our stay special was the people running it. The owner, a foreigner with a Burmese wife, was helpful, easygoing, and down to earth. The rooms were clean, new, and comfortable, with lovely towels, comforter, and pillows. Showers had very hot water. He built the hotel in a Western style, with outlets by the beds and WiFi in the rooms. There's also a huge generator out front for the frequent power cuts. Breakfast on the rooftop was basic but good. We'd stay again!

When we visited in July 2018, the hotel had only been open about two months. A Scottish man and his Myanmar partner run it. The place was spotless, with a top-notch bathroom, good beds, and a TV with one English movie channel. Breakfast was included, with both Myanmar and Western food. It was the cheapest room we could find, yet by far the cleanest and best. A real gem. Hopefully the prices stay where they are, because this place could set a new standard in new Bagan.

Our feelings and the facts are tied together here. The showers were the best in Bagan, breakfast was exquisite every day, and the clean, fresh laundry exceeded what we expected. We arrived at Morning Star Guest House as guests and were soon treated like family. When it was time to check out two months ago, my heart and soul stayed behind. We'll come back home to Our Happy Place. 🌹🏪🎈
