The location was great, and the rooms were comfortable. But during my visit, the pool couldn't be used, and the power situation made things difficult. The electricity was off when I arrived because of the government, not the hotel management. It also didn't run during the day, so there was no AC then, which is rough when it can reach 41 degrees Celcius. At night, the rooms went completely dark without electricity. One lady I met at the start and end of my trip was really helpful. The other staff didn't speak English well, so some of my requests weren't understood properly. They did help me rent an electric scooter, though. I was there in April 2023, and I hope things have improved since then.

This hotel has really gone downhill, and the reviews shown as current don't reflect what it's like. There's no wifi, the pool is filthy and its ladder is broken, and there's a pile of dust under the bed. Breakfast was just two pieces of toast and two eggs in a hot, humid restaurant. The staff will do whatever you ask, which makes it a shame the hotel has been allowed to get this bad.

We had a relaxing, enjoyable stay at the Royal Bagan. We had seen comments about rude, unhelpful staff, but that wasn't our experience. They were attentive and handled our requests quickly. There was a small booking issue, and the aircon in our first room wasn't very effective. They moved us and checked the unit, and it was fine after that. Breakfast was very good. The main drawbacks were that the pool and its surrounding area feel small when the hotel is busy, the beds can be hard, and the air conditioning units may struggle in warmer weather.

The Mote Hin Gar at breakfast was delicious, and breakfast overall was really good. The pool was perfect for a break around 1-2 pm when it gets so hot. Staff, especially at reception, were super friendly, helpful, and always smiling. With the hotel's promotion, renting an E-bike there costs less than at the shops next door, at 5k.

The dorm rooms were very clean, the bathroom was spacious, and on arrival you get water, a toothbrush, and a towel for free. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the location worked well, about a 10-minute walk from the restaurants. Breakfast had plenty of choices, including fruit, coffee, juices, Burmese dishes, and eggs made to order. The pool is tiny and fairly dirty, with a strong amount of chlorine. The place was alright, but nothing you'd write home about. Done deal 👌🏻
