Nanda Garden

The complimentary breakfast was really good, and we found a few food stalls within easy walking distance for dinner. We had a wonderful time at the hotel during our stay in the Temple City of Bagan.

The garden is lovely and peaceful, the staff are kind, and having e-bikes on site made it easy to get around Bagan. The hot shower had good pressure too. But there were some things that could’ve made the stay better: the room sockets didn’t work, the room was cleaned only once during my week there, and the shower head can’t be adjusted, so it sprays the toilet roll, toothbrush, and everything else. The location is good for scooting around Bagan.

The garden is beautiful and the breakfast room is impressive, but I slept terribly here. The windows don’t shut properly and have no mosquito nets, so the room was full of mosquitoes. It was also extremely noisy. Dogs gathered in the open area behind the hotel at night, barking and howling like wolves. At the time of my stay in March 2020, construction was happening just 3 meters from the rooms to build a new hotel section. It looked far from finished, so I expected the work to continue for months, and it woke me at 7:30 am. Most of the staff were nice, but only one staff member and the manager spoke English okay. They were only there in the morning, so getting help with anything beyond simple questions was hard. My room had three extra "windows", but only one had glass. The outside light stays on at night, so corner rooms don’t get dark. I covered it with a folder from the room. As others have said, the wifi is too slow for almost anything. It was way too expensive for what they offer.

The room had a minibar with reasonable prices, and the wifi worked well. Breakfast was quite grand, with lots of tasty Burmese dishes and fruit. The service was great for the price. When I needed to exchange dollars for kyats, the reception staff were very helpful, and one even gave me a lift on his bike from the Nanda hotel on main road.
