There are a few bungalows you can rent here. Moe Yun Gyi Lake is surrounded by water, and you can take a lovely boat ride across it to see seasonal birds and lily flowers. It’s a recreation area.

The restaurant food tasted good, though there was no fruit juice when I visited. Plum juice, snacks, and instant drinks were available, and the big wooden tables and view were nice. There’s an inn with different kinds of rooms, including a boathouse bungalow, and an early boat ride lets you watch many bird species. You can also take a boat ride without staying overnight. I liked walking on the wooden bridge over the lotus pond, with wild trees around and fresh air away from the polluted city. The wetland resort is about an hour’s drive from central Bago. It’s known for its wild bird-watching tower. Entry for each local adult is 1,000 kyats, and car parking is free. A good place to let go of some stress.

Bring your own binoculars. The resort has some, but they don’t work. From the resort, you can take a boat to the other end of the lake to see migrating birds, and stay overnight so you can get up early for bird watching. This is one of Myanmar’s few wetland reserves, and not many tourists or even locals seem to know it. The best time for winter birds is late November to February. Bee eaters and drongo are common there.

The reservoir is lovely, and the wetland feels cool, with lots of bird species. Your room puts you very close to them. The hotel itself isn’t luxurious, but the experience of the peaceful natural surroundings is, especially for such a cheap price.

The food and service were fair, and the room was okay, though the electricity was poor. There were lots of mosquitoes at night. Moe Yun Gyi resort sits by the shore of Moe Yun Gyi Inn ( lake ), surrounded by nature. It’s a nice place to relax and not far from Yangon.
